Japan Airlines’ Data Breach Puts 28,000 Users at Risk


Tokyo: Japan Airlines (JAL) has admitted its systems were hacked, and the personal data of 28,000 users may have been leaked.



According to Thai News Agency, Japan Airlines (JAL) revealed that its baggage delivery booking system was accessed without authorization, and the personal data of up to 28,000 users may have been leaked.



The airline stated that its same-day baggage delivery booking system, which transports luggage from the airport to a designated hotel, was accessed without authorization by a third party at 00:40 local time on Monday (February 9). The potentially leaked data relates to customers who used the service since July 10, 2024, and includes names, email addresses, and phone numbers, but excludes credit card numbers and passwords. Other details, including flight numbers, origin and destination airports, and hotel names, may also have been compromised.



Currently, the airline has temporarily suspended its baggage delivery service, emphasizing that this will not affect other services.
