Trat city: The Royal Thai Navy's Mine Action Unit has identified six newly laid PMN-2 anti-personnel mines in the Chamrak area of Trat City. This discovery was made during a recent operation aimed at reclaiming and clearing the area, which falls under the "Trat Pikhath Phairi" (Trat Annihilates the Enemy) plan.
According to Thai News Agency, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyapan, the spokesman for the Royal Thai Navy, announced that the mines, found in the Ban Chamrak area, Mueang District, Trat Province, were not remnants from previous conflicts but were recently laid by opposing forces. In addition to the PMN-2 mines, three PMN-1 landmines and one POMZ landmine were also discovered in the vicinity.
These findings represent a serious breach of international humanitarian law and obligations concerning the prohibition of landmine use. Thailand has condemned the act and plans to document the evidence systematically, pursuing legal action in accordance with international protocols.
