47 New MPs Register on First Day at Parliament

Bangkok: The Parliament witnessed a busy day as 47 new Members of Parliament (MPs) arrived to register for duty on the first day of the 27th House of Representatives. The registration process kicked off with MPs continuously arriving at the Parliament building.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Suchada Sangtansap, an MP for Chaiyaphum from the Bhumjaithai Party, was reported as the first to register. Following her, several MPs from different parties arrived to complete their registration. These included Mr. Rawee Leka-uthai from the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Peeradet Siriwansaan from the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Borom Engchuan from the Bhumjaithai Party, Ms. Thanyatharee Santaphan and Mr. Cherngchai Chaleerin from the Pheu Thai Party, and Mr. Natchanon Srikorkua from the Bhumjaithai Party.

At around 1:00 PM, Ms. Treenuch Thianthong, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party and acting Minister of Labour, led four of her party's MPs to register. The registration process proceeded in an orderly manner, with MPs entering to report and have their photos taken for identification cards. However, Ms. Treenuch left immediately after the registration, avoiding questions from the media regarding other political matters.

The day's registrations included 21 MPs from the Bhumjaithai Party, 21 from the Pheu Thai Party, 1 from the Democrat Party, and 4 from the Palang Pracharath Party. Many MPs registered today due to prior commitments that prevented them from doing so during their scheduled party slots.

The registration procedure requires MPs to submit completed documents, a certificate from the Election Commission, and to have a photo taken for their identification cards. Tomorrow, the Pheu Thai Party, led by prominent leaders including Prime Minister candidate Yotsanuang Wongsawat, plans to bring their constituency MPs to complete the registration process at 10:00 AM.
