Advance Ticket Booking Opens for Songkran Festival 2026 Travel

Bangkok: The Bus Terminal (BKS) has initiated advance ticket booking for travel during the Songkran Festival 2026, offering travelers enhanced convenience and reducing the risk of sold-out tickets.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd. (BorKorSor), announced the advance booking initiative to facilitate public travel during the Songkran Festival 2026. As many prepare to journey back to their hometowns or embark on tourism activities, BorKorSor has provided multiple platforms for advance ticket booking, including their website, E-ticket application, Facebook page, Line, nationwide ticket counters, and a dedicated phone line.

This move aims to streamline travel planning, ensuring smooth management of bus schedules and routes. The initiative is expected to provide sufficient buses to meet public demand, preventing passengers from being stranded.

Currently, around 30% of tickets for Songkran 2026 have been booked across all routes nationwide, covering the North, Northeast, East, and South regions. A surge in bookings is anticipated in March 2026 as holiday schedules are finalized.

Presently, intercity bus travel sees approximately 80,000 to 90,000 passengers daily, with buses handling 5,000 to 6,000 round trips each day. To ensure safety, the Bus Terminal Authority (BTA) has mandated strict adherence to safety protocols for buses and personnel. These measures include pre-service checks, driver rest and sobriety tests, two-driver assignments for long routes, and speed limits to bolster public confidence in using public transportation.
