Bangkok: Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party's candidate for Bangkok Governor, engaged with residents of Khlong Chan flats, focusing on his commitment to conducting politics with integrity, transparency, and accountability. He addressed key issues such as illegal immigration and the displacement of Thai workers as part of his campaign promises.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anucha, accompanied by party leader Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva and other party executives, campaigned at Khlong Chan Flat Market in Bang Kapi District. The campaign event at the Khlong Chan Botanical Garden was lively, with residents warmly interacting with the candidates. Mr. Anucha took the opportunity to solicit votes, engage with the public, and inquire about the well-being of vendors.
Residents expressed concerns about cleanliness, sidewalk management, and road improvements. Mr. Anucha emphasized the need for more frequent garbage collection. He also addressed the issue of foreign workers taking jobs from Thais, noting that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) would investigate the legality of foreign workers and undocumented residents renting spaces for trading to ensure fairness for Thai businesses.
With less than a month before the elections, Mr. Anucha revealed plans for a smaller rally on June 17th and a main rally on June 28th, aiming to present what the public wants to hear and see. He also tackled rumors of buying and selling district director positions, reiterating his commitment to transparency and accountability in all aspects of governance, from procurement and budget management to civil servant transfers. Mr. Anucha highlighted that during Mr. Abhisit's leadership, politics at all levels must be conducted honestly, a principle he pledges to uphold as Governor of Bangkok.
