Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized the importance of regional collaboration during the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, which included leaders from China, Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, and Singapore.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin highlighted the ASEAN Plus Three mechanism's effectiveness in addressing past challenges, such as the 1997 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed the need for enhanced cooperation to tackle the complexities and fragility of today's world.
Mr. Anutin introduced the '3 Security' framework as a strategic approach for future ASEAN Plus Three initiatives. The framework encompasses Financial Security, which supports the development of a Rapid Financing Facility through the Chiang Mai Initiative to offer prompt financial aid during crises. Digital Security focuses on fostering an inclusive digital economy, particularly for communities and small enterprises, through agreements like the ASEAN Digital Economy Agreement and cooperation in digital infrastructure, AI, and cybersecurity. Human Security aims to enhance quality of life through initiatives in food security, smart agriculture, and sustainable development.
Thailand, Mr. Anutin asserted, is committed to fostering productive collaboration between ASEAN and its Plus Three Dialogue Partners to reinforce the East Asian region's strength.
ASEAN Plus Three leaders concluded the meeting by adopting a statement on regional economic and financial cooperation, setting a foundation for future regional stability and sustainability.
