Bangkok:Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has criticized media outlets for disclosing the names of major companies linked to the 1 million household solar power project. He described this as "ignorance and fabrication," questioning the motives behind the media's actions and emphasizing the need for professionalism.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin confronted the issue following reports that media outlets had revealed the names of registered solar power installers with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA). These included large companies like Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited. Anutin expressed his dissatisfaction with the media's approach, accusing them of making unfounded claims and focusing only on smaller companies while ignoring larger names.
Anutin further clarified that the government aims to ensure fairness and equity in the project's participation criteria, dismissing claims that the process favored large companies. He stressed that the installation of household electrical systems must adhere to stringent standards to prevent safety hazards, such as fires. The Prime Minister encouraged reporting of any perceived unfairness or corruption through proper channels like the Comptroller General's Department or the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
He reiterated his commitment to transparency and fairness, vowing not to approve any practices that set biased specifications. Anutin also assured that he would tackle any favoritism within the agencies he oversees and invited reports of any such incidents to ensure impartiality in the project's execution.
