BANGKOK: Police have charged a man with three offenses following an assault involving a firearm in the Bang Kapi District. The incident, which took place in Soi Phra Ram 9 Soi 35, involved Mr. Sirianon, a 46-year-old Thai national, using a firearm to threaten and injure Mr. Uthit, also 46, while he was collecting a package order. Law enforcement officials seized five automatic magazine-loaded firearms during the investigation.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Porntawee Somwong, Superintendent of Huamark Police Station, stated that Mr. Sirianon faces charges of assault, illegal detention, and discharging a firearm with force. Authorities are currently verifying the legality of the seized firearms and identifying their ownership. Despite rumors suggesting a larger cache of weapons, only five guns were confirmed at the scene.
This morning, the suspect’s family arrived at the Huamark Police Station, offering 150,000 baht for bail. They disclosed that Mr. Sirianon had an eye injury requiring medical attention, but described him as normally non-aggressive. The family mentioned suspicions about Mr. Uthit’s repeated visits to their home over the past five days, claiming he took photographs of their daily activities, which they found suspicious. On the day of the incident, Mr. Sirianon confronted Mr. Uthit, leading to the altercation.
Mr. Uthit, reached by phone, reported ongoing pain from a broken left hand and had been struck on the head with a firearm, though medical checks showed no severe injury. He is due for further questioning at Huamark Police Station at 1:30 p.m., as additional charges against Mr. Sirianon are considered. He stated he will pursue the case thoroughly, expressing concerns due to Mr. Sirianon’s wealth and influence, and stressed he would not accept an apology.
