Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party spokesperson sees the prime minister election as the most urgent matter. The party emphasizes the constitutional requirement for an immediate election, highlighting the necessity for swift action.According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, an MP for Ubon Ratchathani and spokesperson for the Bhumjaithai Party, disclosed that a meeting of party MPs had been arranged prior to the House of Representatives meeting. The primary focus was the urgent consideration of the Prime Ministerial candidate under Section 159 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. Ms. Nan stated that the meeting aimed to discuss the process for selecting the Prime Minister, in addition to addressing the pending vote on the draft Pollution Release and Transport Reporting and Disclosure Act (PRTR) from the September 3rd House meeting.During today's parliamentary session, Anutin Charnvirakul, a party-list MP and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, did not issue any special instructions to MPs, ind icating that the Bhumjaithai MPs are already collaborating with other parties on legislative matters. Further instructions may be provided as necessary.When queried about the possibility of postponing the prime ministerial election, Ms. Nan Bunyatida mentioned that any request for postponement would require further discussion based on the current situation, as the meeting would need to address and vote on the remaining issues from September 3rd.Ms. Nan Bunyatida emphasized that the constitution's directive to "elect promptly" underscores the urgency of the prime ministerial election as the most pressing agenda item. "Certainly, today's parliamentary meeting will be a time when we will ask to enter the agenda for selecting the prime minister," she asserted.Regarding the need for a bodyguard if Mr. Anutin's qualifications were debated, a Bhumjaithai Party spokesperson responded that it was unnecessary, noting that previous parliamentary meetings involved debates solely among representatives from each part y, and the chairperson would decide on various issues.
