Body of Russian Tourist Discovered After Drowning Incident at Koh Samui.

Koh Samui: The body of a 24-year-old Russian female tourist, identified as Ms. Camilla, was discovered after being swept off the rocky shoreline at Lad Kao viewpoint on Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province. The tragic incident occurred shortly after she and her boyfriend had completed a pre-wedding photoshoot, as they were preparing for their upcoming wedding.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from November 29 captured Ms. Camilla driving a red sedan to the viewpoint, where she was later seen sitting on a large rock. A wave subsequently swept her into the sea. The sea conditions around Koh Samui were reported to be rough, with strong waves hitting the shore. Despite immediate search efforts by officials both on the beach and in the sea, she could not be located initially.

The discovery of her body was reported around 11:00 p.m. on November 30 by a hotel employee, who informed Bo Phut Police Station of a body found floating off Chaweng Noi Beach. Authorities, including the Koh Samui District Chief, Tour
ist Police, and rescue workers, arrived at the scene alongside a doctor from Koh Samui Hospital to conduct an autopsy. The body, dressed in a white dress and wearing a white Apple Watch, showed signs of facial injuries, likely caused by hitting rocks in the sea.

Mr. Grigori, Ms. Camilla’s 47-year-old boyfriend, confirmed her identity to authorities. He expressed profound sorrow, revealing that they had planned to marry after returning to Russia and had recently celebrated their engagement with a photoshoot.

Authorities have transferred the body to Koh Samui Hospital for a detailed autopsy and are in the process of contacting Ms. Camilla’s parents to arrange for the repatriation of her remains.
