Lop Buri: A 57-year-old woman bravely confronted a burglar who broke into her home with the intent to steal her belongings. Using her quick thinking, she managed to plead for her life and alert authorities just in time. The burglar, who had previously intruded into her home on three occasions, forced the woman to consider selling her property due to the repeated incidents.

According to Thai News Agency, security footage captured the moment when a male assailant, dressed in camouflage trousers, a blue long-sleeved shirt, and a woolen hat, attempted to drag Ms. Wasana, 57, into her own home using a sharp metal weapon. The incident occurred in Soi Sri Lawo 3, Tambon Khao Sam Yot, Amphoe Mueang, Lop Buri, at noon. Despite her efforts to shout for help and resist, Ms. Wasana was overpowered by the aggressor’s strength.

The intruder then threatened Ms. Wasana with a knife and demanded her belongings. Showing remarkable courage, she pleaded for her safety, offering her possessions in exchange. The burglar eventually searched her and took 300 baht in cash and a mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Ms. Wasana’s daughter shared video clips of the incident on social media, urging the public to provide any information about the suspect. She expressed frustration over the repeated break-ins, noting that despite reporting the incidents to the police, no action had been taken. The situation escalated with the burglar’s latest intrusion, leaving Ms. Wasana fearing for her life.

Muang Lopburi police arrested the suspect, Mr. Borirak, 30, at his home shortly after the incident. Mr. Borirak confessed to being the individual captured on CCTV. Employed at a nearby barbecue restaurant, he had been monitoring the alley, which he found to be mostly deserted with several abandoned houses. He admitted to exploiting this to commit the thefts, unaware that Ms. Wasana was at home.

A background check revealed Mr. Borirak’s involvement in a drug-related case, with a urine test confirming drug use. He apologized to Ms. Wasana, citing financial struggles and responsibility for a young child as his motives. Despite his apology, the police charged him with robbery and drug use.

Ms. Wasana recounted previous burglaries at her home, detailing the distress and fear they caused. She reported the incidents to the police, but no arrests were made until she faced the burglar herself. Overcoming her fear, she convinced the intruder to spare her, but the ordeal left her deeply shaken.

In an emotional statement, Ms. Wasana expressed her sorrow over having to sell her cherished home due to the persistent threat of theft. She described the property as a result of her family’s hard work and love, making the decision to sell all the more painful.

This afternoon, Lopburi City Police took Mr. Borirak to the crime scene for a reenactment of his confession before proceeding with further investigation and charges.
