Bangkok: The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) explained that the building collapse during demolition resulted in no injuries and ordered immediate repairs. The incident occurred in Soi Pracha Songkhro 28, Din Daeng District, where the MRTA has directed the contractor to urgently address the situation. Emphasizing caution, the MRTA has stressed adherence to the highest safety measures.
According to Thai News Agency, the MRTA clarified that the building collapse happened along the demolition line on the evening of July 27, 2016. Supervisors were present, and safety barriers were properly erected, ensuring no public presence in the work area. However, zinc sheeting from the enclosure fell onto neighboring properties.
The MRTA, alongside project management consultants, has instructed the contractor to secure the affected area, advise the public to keep away for safety reasons, and promptly remove encroaching materials. The restoration of the site to its normal condition is being expedited.
Authorities confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities. The demolition was part of preparations for the Orange Line (Bang Khun Non - Thailand Cultural Centre) electric train project. The MRTA remains committed to ensuring safety, working with consultants and contractors to prevent future incidents and maintain public confidence.
