Nong ri: Fragments of a Cambodian bomb have been discovered in a house located in Nong Ri, Trat Province. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) officers and the Department of Ordnance took swift action to recover the explosive devices following recent fighting between Thai and Cambodian forces in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, alongside the Royal Thai Navy’s Ordnance Department, unearthed unexploded ordnance from the site of the conflict at Ban Nong Ri in Trat Province. Aided by a local resident’s small backhoe, they excavated approximately 3 meters beneath the road surface, uncovering fragments of an exploded bullet. These fragments were promptly collected as evidence. After the recovery operation, the road was restored to enable the resumption of regular traffic flow.
Officials reported that the bullet initially struck the ground beside the road before detonating underneath it. However, the explosion was incomplete and lacked significant force, resulting in no damage. Following the successful recovery of the first bullet, plans are in place to retrieve a second one that reportedly landed in a villager’s garden.
