Captain Atom Clarifies Finger-Pointing Photo with Cambodian Soldiers

Bangkok: "Captain Atom," formally known as Captain Pawichaya Waleesuksant, recently addressed a viral photo capturing him pointing a finger at Cambodian soldiers. The photo was taken during a tense moment as the Thai Army led a temporary observer team (IOT) to the Chong An Ma area in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Despite appearances, Captain Atom explained that the situation was not tense, but rather a result of feeling dizzy and fearing he wouldn't be able to keep pace with the group.

According to Thai News Agency, Captain Atom serves as an interpreter at the Foreign Language Division of the Military Intelligence Department and is an assistant spokesperson for the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters. The image, which showed him confronting Cambodian soldiers who attempted to obstruct the mission, generated considerable admiration online for his apparent bravery.

In a Facebook post under the name "Atomm Pavichaya," Captain Atom expressed gratitude to the Border Patrol Police, Rangers, and soldiers involved, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice. He clarified that his demeanor in the photo was not due to stress but rather concerns about keeping up and experiencing dry eyes. Captain Atom's message aimed to commend the forces for fulfilling their duties admirably.
