Bangkok: Corrections Department reveals they have captured a prisoner who escaped from Khao Phrik Prison and appeared in his father’s yard in Khon Kaen. The prisoner claimed to miss his family.
According to Thai News Agency, on January 27, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., an incident occurred involving an inmate from the Khao Phrik Agricultural Industrial Correctional Institution in Klong Phai Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The inmate, who was nearing the end of his prison term, was performing community service outside the correctional facility. He was stationed in an agricultural zone, covering over 1,000 rai, designed for vocational skill training in preparation for release.
On the evening of January 29, 2025, around 19:45, arresting officers were notified about the prisoner’s presence at his father’s rice barn in Ban Kong Subdistrict, Nong Ruea District, Khon Kaen Province. The operation was led by Mr. Parames Kongrod, Commander of Phon District Prison, with support from eight officers from both the Khao Phrik Agricultural Industrial Correctional Institution and Phon District Prison. They received further cooperation from the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, Khon Kaen Provincial Police, Nong Ruea Police Station, and Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison. Initial inquiries revealed that the prisoner had no motives beyond missing his family for his escape. The Department of Corrections has announced plans to enhance measures and tighten supervision of prisoners.
