Bangkok: "Chaiyanok" dismissed rumors of a cabinet reshuffle, stating that KPIs will be evaluated in a year because ministers need time to work. He pointed out that even four months have yielded results and dismissed rumors of forming a new government coalition.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, a Member of Parliament from the party-list and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, in his capacity as Minister of Digital Economy and Society, addressed the attacks on the "child deities" ministers and the cabinet reshuffle. He stated that if the issue of the "child deities" ministers is disregarded, the performance of all cabinet members must be considered, not just those with "child deities." He added that he is also one of those whose performance will be evaluated to ensure that this cabinet can perform its duties to the best of its ability for the country and its people.
When asked whether performance evaluations should be considered after 6 months or 1 year, Mr. Chaiyanok said that more time should be given to work. Even though almost 4 months have passed, he believes the Cabinet has achieved a great deal. Issues that arose have been addressed and resolved, not just superficially, but structurally, with various issues currently being tackled. However, he believes more time is needed. He cited examples of problems that have been resolved, such as concrete changes to the energy structure and the handling of local government exam cheating. He stated that if it weren't for the changes, these issues wouldn't have come to light so widely. He added that efforts have been mobilized to prevent these problems from recurring, which were issues that had accumulated over a long period. He considers this a significant achievement.
When asked, as a minister, what timeframe he thought was appropriate for measuring KPIs, Mr. Chaiyanok said that he thought it should really be longer than 4 months, longer than 6 months, around 1 year would be ideal.
Regarding whether the party leader had given any initial information about the timeframe for the cabinet reshuffle, Mr. Chaiyanok said that no specific timeframe was given, but all ministers were informed from the beginning that everyone must work and produce results. He added that as their party grows larger and they have many capable individuals, they must prove themselves.
When asked about his view on the news regarding potential deals to form a new government coalition, Mr. Chaiyanok said he wasn't paying much attention to it. He said there are currently many pressing problems and crises that the Cabinet must focus on and urgently address for the people. He added that if the Cabinet performs its duties well, any planning or maneuvering will not affect it.
