Chaos in Takua Pa as Long Queues at Gas Stations Cause Major Traffic Jam

Bangkok: Chaos erupted in the Khao Lak area of Takua Pa district, Phang Nga province, as people rushed to refuel their vehicles, leading to a traffic jam that extended over 500 meters along Phet Kasem Road. Despite the surge, gas station operators reassured the public that there are no indications of a fuel shortage.

According to Thai News Agency, locals and tourists alike flocked to a gas station situated in the bustling heart of the Khao Lak tourist area, located in Khuk Khak Subdistrict of Takua Pa District. The influx of vehicles queuing up to refuel resulted in significant congestion, spilling onto the main thoroughfare of Phet Kasem Road and affecting traffic flow in the region.

In addition to a large number of cars, individuals were spotted lining up with buckets and other containers to stockpile fuel, spurred by escalating tensions in the Middle East. This rush occurred despite an announcement by the Ministry of Energy, which assured the public that Thailand possesses sufficient fuel reserves to last approximately 61 days, aiming to alleviate concerns over possible future shortages.

Gas station operators reiterated that they are maintaining a steady supply by continuously ordering and transporting fuel from depots to accommodate the heightened demand. They emphasized that there is currently no fuel shortage, despite the increased consumer activity.
