Chiang Mai: Chiang Mai Night Safari welcomes Chinese New Year by introducing two new members, ‘striped hyena cubs’, 1 month and 16 days old, a new star in the near future, following in the footsteps of ‘????????’, the cute tiger.
According to Thai News Agency, yesterday, a pair of little striped hyenas, aged 1 month and 16 days, were carried by their nanny to show off their naughtiness to reporters who were able to capture their cuteness in celebration of Chinese New Year in the baby animal nursery inside the Tiger Kingdom building at the Chiang Mai Night Safari.
This litter of hyenas was born to father Sonic and mother Sania on December 13th of last year, with one male and one female. This is another success in breeding rare animals and adding new members who will become new stars in the near future, following in the footsteps of ‘????????’, the cute tiger.
Many people may misunderstand that hyenas are wild animals like dogs. But according to genetic characteristics, hyenas are not dogs, but are predators that feed on mammals. The shoulders and head are higher than the hips. The front legs are longer than the back legs. They have strong jaws that can bite prey with great force. They can run as fast as 65 kilometers per hour. Interested tourists can come and see the cute hyenas every day at the Tiger Kingdom building from 11.00 onwards. They will show themselves near the rooms of Eva and Luna, stars of the Chiang Mai Night Safari.
