Wang Nam Khiao: Travel enthusiasts and flower lovers are flocking to the 23rd annual ‘Chrysanthemum Festival in the Mist’ in Wang Nam Khiao, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The festival, which runs until February 23, offers a spectacular display of over 20 species of chrysanthemums gracing a 6-rai area with their vibrant blooms, drawing crowds from near and far. The event is free to the public, making it an attractive destination for families and tourists alike.
According to Thai News Agency, the festival has seen an influx of approximately 4,000-5,000 tourists per day over the past weekend, resulting in traffic congestion from the Thai Samakkhi Subdistrict entrance to the event site. The parking facilities have been overwhelmed as visitors flock to witness the floral spectacle. The festival not only showcases the natural beauty of chrysanthemums in full bloom but also provides a significant boost to the local economy.
Mr. Phongthep Malachasing, President of the Wang Nam Khiao District Tourism Promotion Club, highlighted the impact of the festival on the region’s tourism sector. He noted that the prolonged cold weather has invigorated the tourism atmosphere, with an estimated 30 million baht circulating since the end of the previous year. As the Chrysanthemum Festival continues to attract visitors, it is anticipated that the total economic turnover for Wang Nam Khiao District will reach no less than 40 million baht by the end of the high season.
