Chulaphan Addresses Clarification on Foreign Business Restrictions

Bangkok: "Chulaphan" has clarified the issue regarding the deputy government spokesperson's statement on the lifting of restrictions on eight businesses for foreign workers. The statement, which has sparked discussions, was a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce and has affirmed that there are no rifts within the coalition government.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Julaphan Amornvivat, Minister of Labour and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, commented on Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's interview about the press conference held by Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister, Captain Patarasmi. The conference discussed the Cabinet meeting's approval of amendments to foreign business laws, allowing foreign investment in eight sectors without requiring prior permission. Mr. Amornvivat clarified that he had not discussed the matter with the Prime Minister, noting that the government spokespersons dispersed after the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, May 12th, and he did not review the content of the press release.

Mr. Amornvivat further explained that the workload of the Deputy Spokespersons is divided according to the ministries they oversee, ensuring accurate communication to the public. He highlighted that the company's matter was submitted to the Cabinet by the Ministry of Commerce and emphasized understanding, given that the new deputy spokesperson was appointed only a week ago. Mr. Julaphan mentioned that adjustments might be needed in the pace and content of speeches, but there are no issues, and everyone is committed to achieving the greatest benefit.

When questioned about potential disruptions to the coalition government's work, Mr. Chulaphan assured that there would be no disruptions and confirmed that there was nothing requiring discussion with the Prime Minister. He stressed that it is the spokesperson team's responsibility to discuss and adjust their working methods among themselves and expressed confidence in their capability to handle these matters independently.
