Cold Air Mass from China Causes Temperature Drop Across Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has reported a significant drop in temperatures across various regions of Thailand due to a new strong cold air mass from China. In the Northeastern region, temperatures are expected to decrease by 3-5 degrees Celsius, while the Northern and Eastern regions will see a reduction of 1-3 degrees Celsius. The South will experience increased rainfall, with heavy rain in some areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the cold air mass has already spread over the upper part of Vietnam and is expected to cover the upper North, Northeast, and the South China Sea. This will result in a noticeable temperature drop and strong winds in the affected areas. Residents are advised to take precautions for their health due to the colder weather and to remain vigilant against fire hazards caused by dry conditions and strong winds.

The northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the South is expected to intensify, leading to more rain and heavy downpours in parts of the South. Wave conditions in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea will also become more severe, with the lower Gulf experiencing waves of about 2 meters, and even higher in thunderstorm areas. The upper Gulf will see waves between 1-2 meters. As such, people in the eastern South should exercise caution due to heavy rain and potential coastal dangers. Sailors are advised to navigate carefully and avoid areas prone to thunderstorms.

The weather conditions are also affecting air quality, with poor ventilation and weak winds causing dust accumulation to reach high levels. The forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that the Northern region will experience cool to cold weather with morning fog and a temperature drop of 1-3 degrees Celsius. The Northeastern region will be cold with strong winds, experiencing a 3-5 degrees Celsius decrease. The Central and Eastern regions will have cool weather with morning fog, and the Southern regions will see varied conditions, with thunderstorms and heavy rain expected in certain areas.

In Bangkok and surrounding areas, cool weather with morning fog is predicted, with temperatures ranging from 21-24 degrees Celsius in the morning to a maximum of 33-35 degrees Celsius. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions as weather conditions evolve.
