Colombian Navy Seizes Over 5 Tons of Cocaine in Caribbean Operations

Cartagena: The Colombian navy has announced the successful seizure of more than five tons of cocaine during two operations in the Caribbean Sea. The illegal substances were reportedly being transported by speedboats and were intended for delivery to Central America.

According to Thai News Agency, the first operation occurred in the northern Caribbean Sea. During this operation, naval forces intercepted two Colombians who were transporting 1.3 tons of cocaine in 50 packages. The suspects were detained and subsequently taken to the island of San Andres for further processing.

The second operation unfolded in the western Caribbean Sea, resulting in the apprehension of four Colombians and one Honduran national. This operation led to the discovery of over 4 tons of cocaine, which were packed in 161 packages. The vessel involved had sunk in the area, prompting authorities to rescue the suspects and secure the drugs, which were then transported to Cartagena for processing and further action.
