Trat: The sea is calm, and the beach at Ban Mai Rood - Ban Khlong Manaw is full of jellyfish. A boat survey revealed a sea of colorful jellyfish covering the beaches of Ban Mai Rood and Ban Khlong Manow in Trat province after the waves subsided. They floated in large rafts approximately 50 meters from the shore, lining the coastline for several kilometers.
According to Thai News Agency, officials from the Mai Rood Subdistrict Administrative Organization took reporters on a boat trip to survey the phenomenon of swarms of colorful jellyfish covering the beaches of Ban Mai Rood and Ban Khlong Manow in Trat Province. After the waves calmed and the water became crystal clear, the jellyfish floated in large groups, forming long stretches of coastline about 50 meters from the shore.
Mr. Boonlue Khamwong, a member of the Mai Rood Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), recounted that while out at sea catching krill, he encountered swarms of colorful jellyfish floating in the ocean and also in large numbers in the canals. He said this phenomenon had occurred several months prior, but had subsided due to storms and strong winds preventing the jellyfish from surfacing.
The Mai Rood Subdistrict Administrative Organization has coordinated with villagers to arrange small boats to take tourists to see colorful jellyfish for only 100 baht per person. Currently, there are only three colors, but more colors will appear as they age. The jellyfish can be seen in the sea for up to two months.
