Consumer Protection Network Strengthened Through “CPB Plus” Policy Seminar in Chiang Rai

Chiang rai: The Consumer Protection Board (CPB), in collaboration with Suan Sunandha University, recently organized a seminar aimed at strengthening network partnerships and driving the "CPB Plus" policy. The event focused on enhancing the consumer protection network in Chiang Rai and advancing knowledge of digital financial transactions.

According to Thai News Agency, the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) led the seminar, which concentrated on consumer protection in electronic financial transactions and digital services. Held at the Chiang Rung Meeting Room, WIANG INN Hotel, Chiang Rai Province, the seminar was a collaborative effort with Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Associate Professor Dr. Sudawan Somjai, the project head, initiated the event, discussing its background and objectives. Key discussions included electronic financial transactions and digital services, with Dr. Chandej Charoenwiriyakul leading the opening session and a panel focusing on "Perspectives on Thai Consumer Protection from National-Level Executives."

The seminar featured notable participants including Dr. Patcharin Samsiripong, Secretary to the Minister of the Prime Minister, General Sittichai Makguncharo from the Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Committee for Consumer Protection, and Dr. Komsan Laosilpcharoen, Vice President of the Federation of Thai Industries. Dr. Thachanun Wongpan, Director of Policy and Strategy Division, OCPB, moderated the event. In the concluding session, Dr. Chandej Charoenwiriyakul provided an evaluation of the integrated approach to consumer protection issues and summarized the seminar's outcomes.

Dr. Patcharin outlined views on consumer protection in line with the "Consumer Protection Board Plus Policy," which includes five key areas: proactive prevention of issues, a one-stop service system, strict regulation of online platforms, enhancement through technology and AI, and maintaining the CPB as a "white organization" committed to good governance and a people-centered approach.

Following the seminar, Dr. Patcharin and her team visited the Chiang Rai Provincial Office of the Consumer Protection Board and the Chiang Rai Provincial Damrongtham Center.

During the visit, officials such as Mr. Likit Meeseree, Director of the Chiang Rai Provincial Complaint Center, and Mr. Athichai Tonkanya, Public Relations Officer of Chiang Rai Province, welcomed the delegation. Dr. Patcharin conveyed the policy and concerns of Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi and offered encouragement to the staff engaged in consumer protection and public complaint handling, aiming to boost morale and improve public service efficiency, thereby ensuring comprehensive and fair consumer rights protection in the digital era.
