Democrat Party Refutes Nan Boonthida’s Criticism Over Cannabis Legalization Stigma

Bangkok: The Democrat Party (DP) has responded to Nan Boonthida's recent criticisms, dismissing her comments as mere rhetoric and refuting her accusations of inconsistency in the party's actions.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pasin Pitutecha, deputy spokesperson of the Democrat Party, addressed Ms. Boonthida Somchai's remarks, which accused the party of being "all talk, no action." He emphasized that the party remains committed to the Buddhist proverb, "Truth is immortal," and argued that accusations against the party are baseless.

Mr. Pasin highlighted the tangible achievements delivered by various Democrat Party-led governments, which he claims have continued to benefit the people. He expressed surprise that such criticisms were being raised by someone who once belonged to the party, suggesting that these attacks are damaging and inconsistent with the individual's own political history.

The Democrat Party prides itself on being a cradle for political figures who have successfully pursued careers across multiple parties. Mr. Pasin stressed the importance of political maturity and the need for politicians to focus on their responsibilities without disparaging former colleagues or parties. He advocated for political decorum and mature discourse, which he believes society expects from its leaders.

Mr. Pasin further elaborated on the Democrat Party's contributions to the nation's development. He cited achievements such as the recovery from the Hamburger Crisis, infrastructure advancements, and social welfare policies as evidence of the party's impactful governance. He also noted that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, which has been instrumental in driving Thailand's digital transformation, was initiated by the Democrat Party.

In conclusion, Mr. Pasin countered the notion of "saying one thing and doing another" by pointing out the failures and challenges faced by those who criticize the party, particularly regarding the stigma surrounding cannabis legalization. He emphasized that true political action involves building lasting national structures rather than creating debt burdens.

Ultimately, Mr. Pasin urged society to judge politicians based on their performance, work methods, and integrity, rather than their affiliations or heritage, stressing that these are the true measures of their contributions to the nation.
