Elderly Woman Drives Mercedes Against Traffic on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road

Bangkok: A Mercedes-Benz was reported driving against the flow of traffic on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, drawing significant attention and concerns from the public. The driver, identified as a woman approximately 80 years old, is now under police scrutiny.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred near the Lat Phrao Intersection, almost reaching the Bang Khen Intersection. The situation has sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many questioning the elderly driver's intentions behind such a dangerous maneuver.

Following the incident, the Vibhavadi Police Station initiated an investigation into the vehicle registration and the driver's identity. The woman, who owns a restaurant, was summoned for questioning and to be informed of the charges at the police station. The meeting was scheduled for 3:00 PM.

The elderly driver, accompanied by her daughter, arrived at the station shortly before the scheduled time. She entered the interrogation room to face three charges: reckless driving, violating traffic signs, and additional unspecified charges. Notably, she did not bring the Mercedes-Benz involved in the incident. The police have instructed her to present the vehicle at the station for it to be used as evidence in the case. The authorities will consider a fine before referring the matter to court for further proceedings.
