Election Commission’s Hotline Overwhelmed as Thousands Inquire About Voting Procedures

Bangkok: Reporters reported that according to the Election Commission (EC) that has scheduled the election of members of provincial administrative organizations nationwide in 76 provinces and the election of provincial administrative organization presidents in 47 provinces on Saturday, February 1, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the EC has opened a hotline of 1444 with 10 lines under the slogan "Every question has an answer. Every answer we follow with care."

According to Thai News Agency, throughout the morning until the afternoon, thousands of people continuously called to ask for information via the EC hotline 1444. Most of them asked about reporting reasons for not being able to vote in the Provincial Administrative Organization elections or inquired about the location of the polling station because they did not know which polling station to go to.

In addition, people are confused about whether they need to vote again because they have already voted for the provincial administrative organization president. Therefore, they are not sure whether they need to vote again for this election.

Meanwhile, people have asked if they have the right to vote because they have just moved their household registration into the area. Some have also encountered problems when they went to the polling station and found that their name was not on the polling station.

For people who have just changed their household registration, the Election Commission officials said that their names must have been in the household registration in the election district for at least 1 year, counting up to the election day.
