EOD Defuses M33 Grenade in the Middle of a House

Trang: A perpetrator threw an M33 grenade at a house in the area of Phrong Charakhae Subdistrict, Yan Ta Khao District, Trang Province. One grenade detonated and the other did not. EOD officers went in to collect and destroy it, causing a loud noise. They are urgently investigating to find the perpetrator and to investigate the cause of the incident.

According to Thai News Agency, Trang Province's EOD bomb disposal team recovered and destroyed an unexploded M33 grenade. During the destruction, a loud noise reverberated throughout the area. Car tires used as blast protection were blown into the air, causing smoke to spread throughout the area, causing panic among nearby residents.

This incident occurred in the Ban Yung Ngam area of Porong Charakhe Subdistrict, Yan Ta Khao District, late last night. Officials were notified of a grenade being thrown at a house in Porong Charakhe Subdistrict, Yan Ta Khao District, and sent forces to investigate. The homeowner said that at the time of the incident, the people inside were sleeping and heard a loud noise resembling an explosion. However, they did not dare to come out to look. This morning, they discovered a crater about two feet wide and one foot deep next to the house, so they immediately notified the authorities.

From the investigation, officials learned that this house had been ambushed many times before, to the point that the owner had to build a high wall for protection. But most recently, two M33 grenades were thrown into the house. One of the grenades detonated, causing damage, while the other did not detonate and fell on the eaves. Officials therefore brought in EOD to recover and destroy the M33 grenades.

Police are expediting their investigation to identify the perpetrators and are investigating a conflict suspected to be related to drugs in the area. This is due to information that the homeowner's son is involved in drugs, which could be a motive for the case.
