Phutthaisong:Buriram A fire broke out in a community near Wat Hong, a renowned temple in Phutthaisong District, Buriram Province, leading to the destruction of ten houses. Firefighters battled the blaze for over three hours before managing to bring it under control. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
According to Thai News Agency, more than 10 fire trucks from Phutthaisong District and nearby districts were deployed to extinguish the fire after reports emerged of a blaze in the residential area of the Srisaraed community, Mafuang Subdistrict. The community, which is densely populated and situated next to Wat Hong (also known as Wat Srisaraed), witnessed fierce flames that quickly spread to nearby homes, causing panic among residents who fled for safety.
Firefighters encountered challenges due to the dense population and narrow access roads in the community, which prolonged efforts to control the fire. Despite the destruction of ten houses, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Authorities have cordoned off the affected area for safety and are working with forensic officers from Buriram province to determine the true cause of the fire, with initial suspicions pointing towards an electrical short circuit.
In response to the disaster, local authorities, in cooperation with Phutthaisong Police Station, have set up a service point to provide temporary accommodation and urgent assistance to those affected by the fire, which has left many families without homes or belongings.
