Nakhon ratchasima: A fire broke out in a kitchen pavilion under renovation at Wat Ban Han Toey in Nakhon Ratchasima province, spreading rapidly to the main hall and a monk's residence. Firefighters took over 30 minutes to control the blaze, with damage estimated at over 2.5 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, six fire trucks from Prathai Subdistrict Municipality, Talat Sai Subdistrict Municipality, and Khok Klang Subdistrict Municipality were dispatched to combat the fire. The incident occurred within the premises of Wat Ban Han Toey temple in Prathai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, engulfing the kitchen pavilion before extending to other parts of the temple.
Eyewitnesses stated that the fire began around 11:30 a.m. while the abbot, monks, disciples, and villagers were having lunch on the first floor of the temple hall. A loud bang was heard from the second floor, where the electrical transformer was located, indicating a possible electrical short circuit as the cause.
