Bangkok: A fire broke out in a residential area on Rama VI Soi 15, near Wat Borom Niwat, engulfing 4-5 houses on the side facing a mackerel factory. Authorities are urgently evacuating residents and working to contain the spread of the fire. After more than an hour, efforts are underway to control the blaze, which is proving difficult due to narrow community access roads and limited water supply. The fire has since spread to three nearby high-rise buildings, causing some structures to crack and collapse. Authorities are mobilizing personnel and firefighting equipment to reinforce efforts to contain the spread. At least three people have been injured and have been taken to the hospital.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire in the green building has now been brought under control, except for the fourth floor which is stored with a large quantity of fabric. Authorities have now entered the building, but it shows cracks and an assessment is underway to determine if it is at risk of collapsing. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
