NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: The flood situation in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province has shown signs of improvement following a cessation of rain. However, municipal authorities continue to exercise caution by displaying yellow flags to alert residents to the ongoing risk of water inflow from Lansaka District into the city and surrounding municipal areas.
According to Thai News Agency, while the immediate threat of rainfall has subsided, water remains a concern in several areas. In the suburban community of Chaiyamontri Subdistrict in Mueang District, water levels persist at 5-10 cm due to its status as a water catchment zone. Despite the cessation of rain, which has led to a gradual decrease in water levels, authorities remain watchful and expect further improvement if dry conditions continue.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued warnings about potential water overflow from the Tung Prang Canal. Areas such as Bo Sap Community, Tha Chang Community, Na Railway Station Community in Non Khok District, and Na Railway Station Community in Saphan Yao District, along with the Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality and nearby regions in Mueang District, have been advised to remain vigilant. Residents are encouraged to move belongings and evacuate vulnerable groups to safer locations to mitigate risks associated with potential flooding.
