Ayutthaya:Residents in Ayutthaya are relying on boats for transportation as floodwaters remain high, affecting roads and communities.
According to Thai News Agency, the province of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is experiencing severe flooding, with water levels reaching 1 to 2 meters. This situation has forced residents to abandon cars and use boats, especially in areas like Moo 6, Wat Yom Subdistrict, Bang Pa In District. The flooding is particularly challenging for families with young children who must navigate the waters with caution to avoid accidents.
The flooding has been exacerbated by the high volume of water converging near Wat Phanan Cheong, despite recent reductions in water discharge from the Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat Province and the Rama VI Dam. These areas along the Chao Phraya River are among the worst affected.
In addition to travel disruptions, the floodwaters have also polluted the Khlong Khao Mao canal in Uthai District. In response, a volunteer activity took place at Wat Sakae, where Mr. Surasak Panjaroenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, the governor, and volunteers worked to improve water quality. They used EM balls and fermented microbial solution to address the pollution and foul odors caused by the prolonged flooding. Plans are in place to drain the polluted water quickly once the river levels subside, with large water pumps slated for installation as a long-term solution.
