Paris: French police fatally shot a man who attacked a police officer with a knife near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The attacker later died from his injuries.
According to Thai News Agency, the counter-terrorism office confirmed that the police officers on duty were not injured and no other individuals were harmed in the incident. Paris police provided further information, stating that the incident occurred near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while officers were participating in a fire-lighting ceremony at the memorial. Shortly after the incident, the counter-terrorism office took direct responsibility for the case. Although the suspect's name has not been officially released, reports indicate that the perpetrator is a French man born in 1978 with a prior conviction for attempted murder in Belgium, for which he served a 17-year prison sentence.
Regarding his criminal record, the perpetrator was recently released from prison last December after serving a 12-year sentence. However, following his release, he remained under close police surveillance and was required to undergo periodic checks until he committed this crime.
