Bangkok:The Good Deeds Organization has requested that Boom Panadda step down as president amid an investigation into the use of funds for building construction. The organization has also announced a halt to accepting donations while the investigation is ongoing.
According to Thai News Agency, the foundation’s Facebook page released a statement regarding the construction of a new building in Rangsit Khlong 8, Pathum Thani Province. The statement outlined concerns about the transparency of payments related to the construction project. It was revealed that Boom Panadda, as president, had authorized the disbursement of funds directly to the contractor, but the foundation is currently unable to verify the actual construction costs due to incomplete access to relevant documents.
The statement further clarified that while some parts of the construction, such as roads and storage areas, are already in use, the foundation will investigate any suspicions of misconduct. Should any wrongdoing be confirmed, legal action will be taken. The foundation has acknowledged media reports suggesting that the contractor denied involvement, and it is working to verify the accuracy of these transactions.
In response to these developments, the foundation has appointed Vice President Pornphan Phumrin as the acting president following Boom Panadda's removal. Additionally, the foundation has suspended all donation acceptance until the investigation is concluded, although social welfare activities will continue with available resources.
The organization has requested the cooperation of the public in presenting factual information to prevent any misinterpretation or harm, and it apologizes for the situation, committing to legal action to ensure fairness for all parties involved.
