Bangkok: The Department of Land Transport is now providing free property ownership checks to expedite assistance for citizens appealing against the state welfare card program. The government has advised individuals registered for state welfare benefits, who were disqualified due to "vehicle ownership exceeding the specified limit," to take advantage of this opportunity by filing an appeal and checking their vehicle ownership information free of charge at transportation offices nationwide.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that citizens have been disqualified from receiving the state welfare card for reasons such as previously owning a vehicle, selling it without registering the change of ownership, or discovering ownership because relatives or descendants used their names to purchase the vehicle. To address these issues, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, along with Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, have directed the Department of Land Transport to expedite assistance and facilitate the verification of vehicle ownership information.
Citizens can now inquire about vehicle ownership information free of charge at provincial transport offices across the country. This service, part of a government project, does not involve any fees for verifying ownership. Individuals wishing to check ownership are required to bring their national ID card or relevant documents to any provincial or branch transport office nationwide. The Department of Land Transport utilizes the central database (MDM) to accurately verify the information. Should the information be found inaccurate, the data will be updated or the registration corrected following regulations. The government, through the Department of Land Transport, is committed to facilitating the verification and correction of vehicle registration information urgently. This ensures citizens have the correct information for appeals and helps protect their rights. Concurrently, the Department of Land Transport will compile various cases of public problems to present to relevant agencies for consideration and so lutions, as stated by Ms. Ploytalay.
