Bangkok: The Government Savings Bank (GSB) has partnered with ShopeePay to launch the "Save Money, Win Gold" promotion, offering Chinese New Year gifts for the Year of the Horse 2026. This initiative encourages Thais to convert their New Year money into savings with the chance to win a 1-baht gold bar along with other significant prizes. The promotional period runs from February 9th to March 4th.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Yanyong Rajanont, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Savings Fund (NSF) and Acting Secretary-General of the National Savings Fund Committee, stated that the Chinese New Year is an auspicious time for Thai people of Chinese descent. Saving money during this period is seen as planting the seeds for future financial growth. The NSF, in collaboration with ShopeePay, is launching this campaign to encourage informal workers and self-employed individuals to invest their New Year's money into savings with the NSF. Participants will receive government matching contributions up to 100%, not exceeding 1,800 baht per year, based on age, and have the opportunity to win prizes for the Year of the Horse.
The details of the "Lucky Chinese New Year" activity and prizes include the opportunity to participate by saving money with the Government Savings Fund through the ShopeePay application. For every 50 baht saved, participants earn a chance to win a prize. The minimum savings amount is 50 baht, with a maximum of 30,000 baht per year. Grand prizes include three gold bars weighing 1 baht each, with a total value exceeding 150,000 baht, 12 Simplus digital rice cookers, 12 Toshiba microwave ovens, and 12 Hatari 18-inch floor fans.
To participate, users must download and update the ShopeePay app, register and link their account, and save money via the app during the campaign period. Eligibility can be checked through the ShopeePay application. The prize draw will occur on March 9, 2026, with winners announced on March 12, 2026, via Facebook and the event page on the ShopeePay app.
This collaboration aims to make saving money easy and accessible through digital systems, offering a Chinese New Year gift from the National Savings Fund and ShopeePay to all members, helping them achieve financial security in retirement while also providing a chance to win attractive prizes.
