Bangkok:Thailand The Meteorological Department has issued Warning No. 8 for September 25-27, 2026, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain in various regions, including the North, lower Northeast, Central, Bangkok, surrounding areas, East, and South. Certain areas may experience very heavy rainfall.
According to Thai News Agency, the warning is due to a strong low-pressure system over the eastern region, which is moving to cover the lower northeastern and central regions, including Bangkok. This movement occurs along the monsoon trough that extends across upper Thailand. Additionally, the southwest monsoon has intensified in the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public is advised to be cautious of heavy and prolonged rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and landslides, particularly in hillside areas, near waterways, and low-lying regions. It is recommended to avoid routes susceptible to repeated flooding.
In the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, wave conditions are worsening. In the upper Gulf of Thailand and the upper Andaman Sea, waves are currently 2-3 meters high and could exceed 3 meters during thunderstorms. For the lower Gulf of Thailand and the lower Andaman Sea, waves are about 2 meters high and may exceed this height with thunderstorms.
The Meteorological Department advises sailors to remain vigilant and to steer clear of areas experiencing thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Gulf of Thailand and the upper Andaman Sea are urged not to leave shore until September 27, 2026.
