Phichit: Heavy rainstorms unleashed chaos in Phichit province, as strong winds toppled trees, crushing dozens of motorcycles and leaving several people injured. The storm, which battered Pho Prathap Chang and Mueang Phichit districts for nearly an hour, caused widespread damage, particularly around Bueng Si Fai, a popular tourist attraction.
According to Thai News Agency, the storm's powerful winds uprooted both small and large trees, causing significant damage to the motorcycles of tourists and locals who had taken shelter from the rain. Several individuals pushing carts in the area were injured when a tree fell on them, prompting emergency medical services from Tha Luang Subdistrict to transport them to the hospital for treatment.
Tourists at Bueng Si Fai Lake recounted the urgency of the situation, noting that provincial administrative organization officials had urged them to seek cover in a nearby building. Just moments after they found safety, a tree collapsed, crushing the motorcycles that had been parked for shelter. The Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization swiftly responded, using chainsaws to clear the debris and assess the damage.
The storm's impact extended beyond Bueng Si Fai. Officials reported a head-on collision between motorcyclists attempting to escape the storm, resulting in three individuals being found unconscious and injured. In Hua Dong Subdistrict, trees fell at Hua Dong Rat Chanuthit School, while trees and power poles caused damage to parked cars.
In Moo 1, Dong Klang Subdistrict, Mueang Phichit District, several homes sustained damage, and communication systems remain disrupted. Local administrative officials and government units are conducting urgent surveys to assess the damage and provide necessary assistance to affected residents.
