Bangkok: Hundreds of tourists were evacuated as firefighters battled a large wildfire on the Gargano Peninsula in Italy, leading to the closure of transport routes between the coastal towns of Peschici and Vieste. Approximately 400 tourists and beachgoers were forced to leave the area to ensure their safety.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire originated near Pileh Fraballe, just outside Peschici, and rapidly spread to the Bay of Manaccora and Saena. Strong winds exacerbated the situation, fanning the flames and contributing to the fire's spread across the region.
Efforts to control the blaze involved firefighters, regional civil defense personnel, and the deployment of aircraft, including two firefighting planes. As of the initial reports, there were no injuries or fatalities linked to the wildfire.
