Pathum thani: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in coordination with the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), conducted a significant raid on an illegal meatball and pork sausage factory in Pathum Thani province. The raid led to the seizure of over 20 brands of substandard products, with a total estimated value exceeding 7 million baht. Authorities have urged the public to immediately discard any purchased products from these brands for health and safety reasons.
According to Thai News Agency, the joint operation by the FDA, CPPD, the Department of Livestock Development, and the Public Health Department of Pathum Thani Province targeted a large-scale illegal meat processing factory in Lam Luk Ka District. Over 10,000 bags of illegal products were confiscated, along with machinery and raw materials. The FDA has issued a strict warning to retailers to halt the sale of these products and advised consumers to dispose of any they might have already purchased.
Pharmacist Supatra Boonsearm, Secretary-General of the FDA, stated that the illegal products have been categorized into two main groups for consumer awareness. The first group includes six items that lack FDA registration numbers on their labels, such as C-F-P brand squid meatballs and Ros Lert brand pork meatballs. The second group comprises 14 items with counterfeit FDA registration numbers, including Mini Pork Sausage and Black Pepper Chicken Sausage from various brands.
The FDA has also advised retailers, restaurants, and mobile food vendors to avoid selling these products. Consumers are encouraged to verify FDA registration numbers through the "Mor Prom" application or the FDA website. Suspicious products can be reported via the FDA hotline at 1556.
