Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi Visits India to Strengthen Economic and Strategic Ties

New delhi: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was given a formal welcome by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Ratsadarapati Bhawan Presidential Palace today, as the two leaders prepare for discussions aimed at promoting trade, investment, and strategic cooperation between the two countries.According to Thai News Agency, the Japanese Prime Minister arrived in India on Wednesday, marking his first official visit to the country. This visit follows the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Tokyo last year, during which Japan pledged to more than double its investment in India to over 2.14 trillion yen within the next decade, reflecting increasingly strong economic ties.During this three-day visit, the 16th annual India-Japan Summit will be held, a cooperation mechanism where the prime ministers of both countries take turns hosting the meeting.Furthermore, sources from India revealed that the two leaders will participate in business activities with executives from both countries. Currently, there are approx imately 1,400 Japanese companies operating in India, nearly half of which are in the manufacturing sector.India and Japan are both members of the Quad, a group of four parties that includes the United States and Australia. This group has seen significant expansion in defense and strategic cooperation in recent years.
