Bangkok:Kasikornbank has taken legal action by filing a police report concerning the forgery of money transfer slips that falsely implicated the bank. The slips in question totaled 7 million baht and were designed to resemble legitimate transfers, using the bank's name and logo.
According to Thai News Agency, the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Chairat, the administrator of the Facebook page "Godd Dam." Mr. Chairat subsequently surrendered to the CCIB 1, facing charges related to the distribution of the fake money transfer slips, which implicated a prominent political figure.
The incident came to light when Mr. Thanin, representing Kasikornbank Public Company Limited, met with investigators at Bang Sue Police Station. The bank's customer complaint center had identified the forgery, noting that the slip displayed "The Wisdom" logo and the name "Kasikornbank," falsely indicating a transfer on October 31, 2023. Upon investigation, the center confirmed the slip was not issued by the bank's system, suggesting it was created to deceive the public for fraudulent purposes.
The forgery has reportedly caused significant damage to Kasikornbank’s reputation. The bank has emphasized its non-involvement and warned that those misled by the forgery could become victims of fraud, which constitutes a criminal offense under the Computer Crime Act. Kasikornbank has pledged to pursue legal action against all responsible parties to ensure justice is served.
