Bang lamung: Missing his friends in prison, a young man walked into a police station carrying crystal meth and methamphetamine, demanding to be arrested. He threatened to smash the windows of the district office if they didn’t arrest him.
According to Thai News Agency, police officers at Bang Lamung Police Station were baffled while working in the interrogation room when a man, identified as LGBTQ+ and 25-year-old Wacharakul Nachat, walked in holding crystal methamphetamine and amphetamine pills. He handed them to the officers and said, “Please arrest me. If you don’t, I’ll go smash the windows of the district office next door.”
Police arrested Mr. Wacharakul Nachat and seized 6 methamphetamine pills and 0.01 grams of crystal meth that he was carrying and handed over to the police. He remained calm and demanded that the police proceed with the arrest according to the law. A background check revealed an outstanding arrest warrant from the Khon Kaen Provincial Criminal Court for nighttime theft.
Mr. Wacharakul Nachat admitted that he is part of a gay group and was recently released from Pattaya Special Prison on February 5th. After his release, he had nowhere to go and missed his friends still incarcerated, so he decided to buy methamphetamine and crystal meth in the Jomtien area for nearly 2,000 baht before handing it over to the police so they could arrest him and send him back to prison.
When asked if he had thought carefully about his actions, Mr. Wacharakul Nachat, or Aomsin, maintained that this was his wish – to return to his friends in prison because he was unhappy living outside. He explained that he used to be a ground staff employee for an airline, but his boyfriend became involved with a call center scam and fraudulent accounts, leading to a widely publicized arrest. After that, he developed panic attacks and depression, fearing he might commit suicide outside. Therefore, he decided it was better to return to prison.
Initially, police recorded the arrest on charges of possessing Category 1 narcotics (amphetamine pills, crystal methamphetamine) with intent to sell. The case was then handed over to investigating officers for further legal proceedings.
