MEA Mobilizes 500 Personnel to Prepare for Maintaining Power Supply During the Election

Bangkok: The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has announced its comprehensive plans to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply on the crucial election and referendum days set for February 8. A dedicated team of over 500 personnel, equipped with backup generators and other essential equipment, will be strategically deployed to ensure smooth operations during this period.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pipat Cholampai, Deputy Governor of MEA, spearheaded an inspection at the Samut Prakan Provincial Election Commission office to assess the readiness of the electrical systems. He emphasized the importance of implementing stringent measures to maintain energy security at polling stations and counting centers. The MEA's operational strategy is centered on supporting national missions and prioritizing the stability, safety, and efficiency of the electricity distribution system. This plan encompasses all levels of polling stations, voting points, and vote counting centers, ensuring that the vote counting and results reporting process is both accurate and timely.

Additionally, MEA has broadened its oversight to include related sectors, such as the media and telecommunications agencies, to facilitate the continuous dissemination of election results and provide unlimited internet access for election data transmission. This initiative is aimed at enhancing public confidence in the transparency of the election results summary, available around the clock.

The MEA is also set to inaugurate the "Metropolitan Electricity Authority's Electricity System Control Operations Center for the Election of Members of Parliament and Referendum" tomorrow, February 6th. This center will be pivotal in closely monitoring the situation, with on-site inspections scheduled for election day to ensure that each vote is safeguarded by the most stable electricity system possible.
