Bangkok: “Mermaid Butter” Kamonchanok Kwanmuang clinched the gold medal in the women’s 200m butterfly event at the 33rd SEA Games, marking a triumph for Thailand in the swimming competitions.
According to Thai News Agency, the event took place at the Sports Authority of Thailand swimming pool, where the 20-year-old Kwanmuang, participating in her fourth SEA Games, completed the race in 2 minutes 11.78 seconds. This victory awarded Thailand its first gold medal in swimming at this year’s SEA Games.
The silver medal was claimed by Vietnam’s Vo Thi My Theuyen, who finished with a time of 2 minutes 12.10 seconds. Singapore’s Guo Jingwen secured the bronze with a time of 2 minutes 13.88 seconds. Another Thai competitor, Napaswan Charitkla, placed sixth in the event.
