Minister of Higher Education Unveils AI Economy Event at KMUTT

Bangkok: Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Professor Dr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, inaugurated the "AI Driving the Economy" event at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). The event, held at the Benjarat Auditorium, Nawaminthrarachini Building, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, also included an inspection of the innovation and robotics center by the minister.

According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Yotsanun Wongsawat delivered a lecture on 'AI and Driving the Economy' during the opening ceremony. Professor Dr. Thanin Silpacharu, President of King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), outlined the objectives of the event. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Chatrin Chanhom, Secretary to the Minister of MHESI; Dr. Panphermsak Arunee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI; Professor Dr. Theerawut Bunyasophana, Chairman of the University Council; alongside university administrators, faculty, and staff.

The event featured insights from prominent speakers including Dr. Chayawadee Chaiyanan, spokesperson for the Bank of Thailand; Dr. Rak Vorakitphokathorn, CEO of Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Public Company Limited; Mr. Montri Sathapornkul from True Corporation Public Company Limited; and Prof. Dr. Attakorn Kengpol from KMUTT's Faculty of Engineering. Moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Thanawat Techa-Hirunwat from the Faculty of Information Technology and Digital Innovation, KMUTT, the event drew significant interest from business and private sector representatives, students, and the general public.

Following the opening ceremony, the minister and his team toured key innovation centers at KMUTT, showcasing the university's technological infrastructure. The KMUTNB Techno Park featured the Innovation and Digital Technology Learning Center, the Automation and Robotics Center, and the Modern Automotive Innovation and Rail Transport System Center, all instrumental in developing human resources and applied research for targeted industries.

The tour also included the Research and Development Institute for Science and Technology's Central Laboratory, which provides testing and research services to support Thai entrepreneurs and industries. Additionally, the Thai-French Institute of Technological Innovation (TFII) and the TFII-Schneider Electric Center of Excellence were highlighted for their collaborative efforts in advancing skills in automation and clean energy.

The visit underscored KMUTT's role as a leading institution committed to integrating research, innovation, and technology to enhance the country's competitiveness sustainably.
