Bangkok: The Minister of Interior (M.4) has directed officials to take decisive action against corruption in local government exams, with a commitment to unveil results by next week and promising both disciplinary and criminal actions without exception.
According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, highlighted the urgent need to resolve corruption complaints related to competitive examinations for recruitment into local administrative organizations. He has instructed relevant agencies to expedite the investigation process to ensure clarity and restore public trust. Mr. Worasit stressed that the results of the investigation must be known by next week and stated that the matter would not be allowed to linger unresolved.
Mr. Worasit emphasized the importance of integrity in the competitive examination process, stating that it serves as a vital gateway for young individuals aspiring to join the civil service. He warned that any discovered corruption could undermine ethical standards and erode confidence in the government system.
"I have instructed all agencies that next week we must know the results of what can be done. We must not let this matter be swept under the rug or dragged on. The public must receive answers, and those who took the exam honestly must receive justice," Mr. Worasit stated.
He further stressed that any involvement in corruption by individuals or officials would lead to strict disciplinary, administrative, and criminal actions. He assured that this would occur without exception and regardless of anyone's position or influence.
Moreover, Mr. Worasit has urged responsible agencies to collaborate with law enforcement to expedite evidence collection in a transparent and judicial manner, ensuring continuous updates to the public on the progress.
Mr. Worasit concluded by reiterating the Ministry of Interior's commitment to enhancing good governance in local administration, ensuring that corruption does not hinder opportunities for those who participate in exams based on merit and integrity. "The truth must be revealed, justice must prevail, and those who cheat must be punished according to the law," he affirmed.
