Mukdahan Hosts ‘Muk Chinese New Year, Xin Chao’ Event Showcasing Four Cultures

Mukdahan: Mukdahan organized the ‘Muk Chinese New Year, Xin Chao’ event, attended by many Thais of Chinese-Vietnamese descent and tourists. The ‘Chinese New Year Muk Xin Chao’ event was held for the 5th time at the Mukdahan City Pillar Shrine. It was organized in a format that combined the four cultures of Thailand, China, Vietnam, and Laos, which are the original people living in Mukdahan Province. The event opened with a lion dance accompanied by 1,000 firecrackers and a performance of the Chinese martial art ‘Eng Ko’.

According to Thai News Agency, the event included more than eight photo check-in points, music performances throughout the four days, an international food street with over 60 shops, and photo check-in activities to win red envelopes worth more than 10,000 baht every day. The event was held between January 27 and January 30 at the Old City area, Mukdahan Municipality, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province.

In Trang Province, the atmosphere was lively as well. At the Clock Tower intersection in Trang City, the Trang Chinese New Year and Food Festival 2025 was underway, preserving Chinese culture and traditions and attracting both domestic and international tourists. A highlight of the event was the challenging lion dance on the plum blossom pole, combined with a golden dragon performance, which captivated the audience.

The event also featured seafood, local food, and over 160 unique products, with activities such as cooking demonstrations by famous chefs, Thai-Chinese cultural performances, an exhibition of Chinese New Year legends, and a ceremony to welcome the God of Fortune, Chai Sing Ye. The event will run until January 29, 2025, allowing people and tourists to join and experience the culture from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Trang Provincial Clock Tower.
