Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has confirmed that the summons sent to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, regarding charges related to the improper distribution of relief bags, was legally executed.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phuthep Thaweechotthanakul, Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy Spokesperson of the NACC, addressed claims suggesting that the summons sent to Mr. Pirapan was improper. He clarified that the investigation committee acted in compliance with legal procedures by sending an invitation letter to Mr. Pirapan to acknowledge the allegations, utilizing registered mail with a return receipt as per regulations.
The NACC emphasized that the action was in line with Section 5 of the 2018 Organic Act on the Prevention and Suppression of Corruption and Section 73 of the 2018 NACC Regulations on Inspection and Investigation. Contrary to reports, the NACC officials did not admit to any mistakes in issuing the summons, and the public is advised to rely on official NACC communications for accurate information.
The NACC reiterated its commitment to conducting corruption investigations with speed, quality, and adherence to standards, focusing on honesty, fairness, professionalism, transparency, and accountability in all operations.
